George Washington Carver Park celebrates third Memories Day Feb. 24

Drawing people "back to The Beach," the third annual Memories Day will celebrate the significance of George Washington Carver Park while preserving its history for future generations. Set for Feb. 24, the event will be presented from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the historic site, 3900 Bartow Carver Road in Acworth.

2 arrested with drugs after trying to pass fake checka

Two people were arrested Monday at Northside Bank on Cherokee Place in Cartersville after presenting a fake or stolen check in the bank's drive-through. According to a Cartersville Police Department report, a search of a 1998 Toyota Camry found several different drugs, including cocaine, marijuana, amphetamine, Xanax and Alazopram.
