Arvada drug dealer sentenced to year and a day for mailing marijuana plants

A 36-year-old Arvada man will serve one year and a day in a federal prison for using the U.S. Postal Service to mail marijuana plants to customers around in the country. U.S. District Court Judge R. Brooke Jackson sentenced Mark Herbert Koenig, 36, of Arvada on a charge of attempted drug dealing, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Bob Troyer and Dana Carter, head of the U.S. Postal Inspector's office in Denver.

Man who was fatally shot by Arvada police Wednesday had a lengthy arrest record

The Arvada Police Department have identified 39-year-old Adrian Valdez as the man who was killed by police officers after they say he came at them with a knife Wednesday night. Valdez, who had numerous aliases including Larry Cordova, has an arrest record that dates back to 1998, according to records from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Officers responding to a call of a suspicious person in the 6900 block of 84th Way called for backup when they discovered the suspect was wanted on a felony warrant and was under investigation for violating a restraining order.
