Athens man allegedly reaches for cop's duty belt

Lamont Andre Evans Jr., 21, of Vine Street was arrested Monday after he struggled with officers and grabbed their duty belts, Athens-Clarke County police said. Police said they wanted to question Evans because he fit the description of an armed robbery suspect and the struggle began when officers tried to prevent him from walking away, according to police.

Athens firefighters battle - strange' large brush fire in snow

One of the more significant incidents Athens firefighters had to contend with amid the the snow and sub-freezing temperatures Wednesday morning was a large brush fire in northern Athens.
