A Tuesday event is planned to help people address life issues that stop them from finding good jobs and then connect with prospective employers. The Career Life Expo, scheduled for Feb. 20 at Wings Event Center, will feature service agencies to help job seekers with issues that get in the way of working and connect them with any of more than 80 area employers.

In 1987, just a few days before Thanksgiving, someone shot the Southwestern Junior High eighth-grader with a small-caliber handgun and stabbed him several times in the back as he was on his way to return pop bottles to a store near his home. A 27-year-old Coldwater man who passed out from an apparent drug overdose had to be rescued from his car Sunday in Battle Creek. The Battle Creek Enquirer reports police found the man while his car was in a snowbank in the 100 block of West Columbia Avenue near Highland Avenue.
