Bolingbrook is located in northeastern Illinois. It was incorporated in 1965, making it one of Chicago's newest suburbs. Despite the fact that the settlement now known as Bolingbrook remained unincorporated for over 130 years, several people have called the area home since the 1830s. Up until the 1960s, the area was just an informal group of farming villages. When Bolingbrook was first incorporated its population boomed, but as the years went on the population growth began to steady. The town calls San Pablo City, Laguna, Philippines, its sister city.
