No contest plea for South City attempted murder

A Daly City man arrested in August 2015 in connection with a gang-related shooting in South San Francisco pleaded no contest to attempted murder Wednesday, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. Jose Antonio Nava, 23, was sentenced to 23 years in state prison for firing multiple shots at three men he thought were members of an opposing gang and who he saw driving in South San Francisco, according to prosecutors.

BART police appeared in greater numbers at two stations and between the Coliseum and West Oakland stations Thursday as part of the new chief's strategy to cut fare evasion, police and a BART spokeswoman said today.
