Court could block felon's shot at Detroit City Council seat

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy hopes a court will invalidate former state Sen. Virgil Smith Jr.'s chances of becoming a Detroit councilman. Whether Smith can take office should he win in the November general election is expected to be determined in a state Court of Appeals opinion expected by Aug. 25. The court must decide if a trial court judge acted properly when he overruled and threw out an agreed-upon stipulation in a plea agreement between Worthy's office and Smith.

Lululemon will open in downtown Detroit in late September

A representative from Lululemon confirmed to Metro Times this afternoon that a location of the popular yoga clothier will open in downtown Detroit in late September.
