Originally named Cottage Hill the area took on the name of Elmhurst in 1869. Elmhurst police reported Tuesday evening they were continuing to investigate an incident that occurred at York Road and Crestview Avenue in the city beginning at 4:45 p.m. Police said officers stopped a vehicle at the intersection, but before the traffic stop was complete, the suspect fled in a vehicle, which was later recovered in Chicago.
