Boil water advisory issued for limited number of Flint water customers

City of Flint crews are working to repair a water main break that occurred on Dort Highway earlier this week. Due to the severity of the break and the length of time it took to complete the repair, Flint's Director of Public Works, Rob Bincsik has decided to issue a precautionary boil filtered water advisory to protect the health and safety of the city's water customers in the affected area.

Grand Rapids School Board applying to offer tuition-free pathway to college

The Grand Rapids School Board passed a resolution Tuesday, Jan. 16, to apply to the Michigan Department of Treasury to become a Promise Zone to offer students free college tuition. The Promise Zone designation would provide students who live within the district's geographic boundaries and graduate from any high school within those boundaries -- public, private or charter -- a scholarship to attend at a minimum a two-year community college tuition free and potentially a four-year university.
