The rules read at the fifth annual Maryland Pinball Championship made it clear: Don't rock the machines. That could cause a tilt, ending play on Doctor Dude or Terminator 3. The state's annual competition for top arcade honors drew 16 participants Saturday to a cinder-block game room alongside Crab Towne, a restaurant that began as a drive-in restaurant in the 1950s on Crain Highway in Glen Burnie.

Anne Arundel police said Huazi Jin, 56, of Brooklyn, New York, and Young Jo Truman, 52, of Silver Spring, were arrested on Wednesday after detectives investigated a massage parlor at 7954 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. The case marks the third Glen Burnie massage parlor since 2013 to have employees or owners charged with prostitution, all of which had connections to New York. In 2015, Qiu Rong Zhang, 51, and Jun Zhu, 47, were both charged with misdemeanor prostitution after an undercover sting at the Shang Spa at 7437 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. Both of whom had home addresses in Flushing, New York.

Anne Arundel County receives modest gains in Hogan's budget

Gov. Larry Hogan delivered his budget Wednesday and with it comes a modest overall increase in county funding, but a decrease in state funding to Anne Arundel Community College. The governor pitched his fourth budget much like the last three: it holds the line on spending, doesn't raise taxes and increases education spending to "historic" levels.

New law changes Anne Arundel school capacity threshold

After County Councilman John Grasso resurrected the legislation and County Executive Steve Schuh introduced several amendments, a bill requiring development to cease near schools greater than 95 percent capacity, instead of 100, passed the County Council on Tuesday by a vote of 6-1. Only council Chairman Michael Peroutka voted against the measure.

A kayaker who fell into the Patapsco River while water temperatures hovered around freezing was rescued Wednesday by emergency crews, police said. Maryland Natural Resources Police wrote on social media that a kayaker fell into the Patapsco River about a quarter mile from the Pasadena shoreline.

Prince George's man missing for days found dead in Glen Burnie

A 65-year-old Prince George's County man who suffered from dementia and had been missing since last week was found dead in Glen Burnie on Tuesday. Anne Arundel police said Daniel DeHaven, of Beltsville, was found in a wooded area off Dorsey Road near BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport after officers responded to a citizen's call shortly before 5 p.m. DeHaven was originally reported missing on Jan. 3 by Prince George's County police, who said he suffered from dementia and was "non-verbal."
