Casida, who has lived on the southside for more than 50 years, has watched Emerson Avenue develop from farmland into a heavily trafficked street lined by businesses and restaurants.

Concerns raised about FedEx

If a proposed FedEx distribution facility is built on the east side of Greenwood, neighbors are worried about the trucks, traffic and changes it will bring to their area. Wendy Murphy, who lives in the South Lakes neighborhood near Worthsville and Sheek roads, is concerned trucks will clog up Worthsville Road, changing the dynamic of a road lined with sidewalks often used by pedestrians and bicyclists.

Police: Pursuit ends in shooting

Investigators are trying to learn more about why a man led police on a chase and then shot himself and crashed on the southside. Police were called to a home on East Main Street near Greenwood just before 10 a.m. Tuesday when a homeowner reported finding a man on his property.

Johnson County Sheriffa s Office investigating following chase, crash

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, deputies initially responded to a residence on Main Street in Greenwood for report of a suspicious person Tuesday morning. A chase then ensued after deputies say the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, eventually heading onto the interstate.

Chase ends in man's arrest

Police said a man already was on house arrest when he got into a pursuit with Greenwood police, struck multiple vehicles and then charged one of the officers. Johnny D. Gamill Jr., 28, Indianapolis, was arrested on charges of theft, battery, resisting law enforcement, failing to stop after an accident and driving while suspended with a prior conviction in the past 10 years.
