Prosecutors: Woman asked boyfriend 30 times to kill her ex

Cook County prosecutors on Saturday accused a Hoffman Estates woman of trying to convince her boyfriend and a friend of his to kill her ex-husband. Krystyna Bury didn't appear to react when Judge Laura M. Sullivan ordered her held on home electronic monitoring if she was unable to come up with $250,000 bail.

Joe's Crab Shack closes longtime locations in Schaumburg, Gurnee

Crews from an outside company removed equipment Thursday afternoon from the Schaumburg establishment on Golf Road just west of Route 53. Some of the Joe's equipment was placed inside a semitrailer parked in the rear of the building across the street from Woodfield Mall. Schaumburg Assistant Village Manager Paula Hewson said officials were informed about Joe's closure Wednesday.

Hoffman Estates investigating cause of house fire

Hoffman Estates firefighters are continuing to investigate the cause of a fire that caused an estimated $100,000 of damage to a home on the 700 block of Orange Lane Saturday, Aug. 5. Firefighters responded to a call at 4:13 p.m. and arrived to find all the occupants of the one-story, single-family home already evacuated. The fire was concentrated in the attached garage of the home but had extended into the attic space and an interior utility room.
