Originally named Alexandria Jackson was renamed in 1822 after General (and eventual President) Andrew Jackson. The city was as a busy railroad junction before the Civil War and also performed train maintenance. Isaac Burton Tigrett, co founder of the Hard Rock CafÃ© franchise, was born in Jackson. Entertainment in the area include the Casey Jones Home and Railroad Museum, the annual Miss Tennessee pageant, and the annual Shannon St Blues and Heritage Festival held each June for two nights at the local farmer's market.
