A Brooklyn man was arrested Sunday afternoon at the Holland Tunnel when police found a pair of pellet guns and hollow point bullets inside his vehicle, authorities said. Police went to the Holland Tunnel toll plaza in Jersey City around 4 p.m. and came upon a 2012 Chevrolet Suburban whose driver said he did not have money to pay the toll for the tunnel, Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.

Rhudell Cruz-Snelling, 26, of Somerville, was convicted Jan. 11 of aggravated assault in the second degree of the woman who was shot in the hand by a bullet that also grazed her neck on June 3, 2016 near St. Cecilia Church on Kearny Avenue, an official said.

A series of deaths and attempted suicides at the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny has caused county officials to review procedures and seek ways to lessen such incidents in the future, said Freeholder Anthony Romano last week. The review initially followed the death of Dominick J. Ramunni, 41, of Bayonne, who collapsed and died in a housing unit on Jan. 14. Ramunni's death occurred on the same day as an attempt at suicide by a 34-year-old Jersey City woman in her jail cell.
