Kalamazoo bicycling crash trial still waiting on Supreme Court decision

Nineteen months following a fatal bicycle crash in Kalamazoo County, the criminal case against the suspect remains on hold pending a decision by the Michigan Supreme Court. Charles Pickett Jr.'s defense attorneys in August 2017 filed an appeal of a July decision by the Michigan Court of Appeals, in which the appellate court denied Pickett's application for leave to appeal his second-degree murder charges.

Kalamazoo Public Safety officers are looking for a suspect who threatened a woman with a gun and attempted a carjacking Tuesday, Jan. 9. The man indicated he was armed with a pistol and demanded she get out of the car and lie on the ground.
