A Norwich contractor hired to build two celebrity-themed restaurants at Foxwoods Resort Casino is awaiting payment of more than $1.6 million from a third party involved in the projects, which have been shelved - perhaps permanently, according to the casino's top executive. Famed Canadian documentary filmmaker and conservationist Rob Stewart died from drowning after succumbing to acute lack of oxygen - or hypoxia - at the surface of the ocean in late January, according to a Monroe County medical examiner's report obtained by The Reporter/Keynoter. The autopsy was conducted by Dr. Thomas Beaver, who lost his contract as medical examiner in May. Beaver would not release the report and told a reporter to "Go [expletive] yourself" in a text when asked for a copy on Aug. 2, blaming this newspaper for his situation.
