Authorities in South Carolina have identified a woman who died in a house fire earlier this week. The Charleston County Coroner's Office said 84-year-old Daw Ma died in the fire at the house in Ladson Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities are investigating the cause of a house fire that claimed the life of an 84-year-old woman Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters with the C&B Volunteer Fire Department responded to the home at 9489 Koester Road around 2 p.m. After extinguishing the blaze, crews found the victim, who was identified by the Charleston County Coroner's Office as Daw Ma.

Ladson man who set former girlfriend on fire sentenced to 30 years in prison

A Ladson man who set his former live-in girlfriend on fire earlier this year was sentenced Wednesday to a 30-year prison term. Circuit Court Judge Kristi Harrington handed Christopher Holmes the maximum possible sentence after the 42-year-old pleaded guilty to one count each of attempted murder and domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, according to the 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office, which prosecuted the case.
