Fire razes roof at old mill building in Lawrence

A two-alarm fire destroyed the roof of an old mill building on Manchester Street in Lawrence Wednesday night, a fire official said. Crews responded at about 6 p.m to find flames shooting through the roof of the two-story building at 85 Manchester St., Deputy Fire Chief John Meaney said.

A woman was injured and remains hospitalized following a "serious" hit-and-run crash near a Lawrence intersection Saturday, and a suspect has been identified, Lawrence Police Chief James Fitzpatrick said Monday. Police arrested a man Thursday who allegedly set fire to a Methuen church late last month, according to the state fire marshal and local officials. Lys Walker Vincent, 45, of Lawrence was charged with burning a building and breaking and entering in the night with intent to commit a felony, Methuen police said in a statement.
