In cold blood: Chilling video shows men

Last Nov. 26, 25-year-old Mindy T. Tran was shot to death while sitting in a motor vehicle outside 45 Hillside Ave. in Lawrence - and Essex prosecutors on Thursday released a surveillance video they hope will lead them to two suspects. The video, which appears to have come from a camera attached to the rear of a building on Hillside Avenue, shows a dark colored car arriving in the neighborhood, then making a quick U-turn before speeding out of range.

New Year's Eve murder suspect arrested in Lawrence

A Lawrence man was arrested Wednesday on charges that he fatally shot a man on New Year's Eve, Essex County prosecutors said. Forty-nine-year-old Jose Urena was arrested at his 63 Warwick St. residence without incident for the murder of 22-year-old Jeffrie Santana-Peguero, the Essex district attorney's office said in a statement.

Methuen police nab drug suspect after 16 years on run

A Methuen man wanted for over 16 years on drug trafficking charges in Lawrence and New Hampshire was finally nabbed Friday, police said. After executing an arrest warrant, Methuen detectives were able to confirm Rivera-Velez's identity and executed a warrant for his arrest Friday, authorities said.
