Lawrenceville is located in northern Georgia. It is named after Commodore James Lawrence, a commander during the War of 1812. Larry Flynt, publisher of Hustler magazine, faced obscenity charges in Lawrenceville during the late 1970s. On one of the days of his trial, both he and his attorney were shot by a sniper near the courthouse. Both men survived, but Flynt was left seriously disabled. The film Road Trip starring Sean William Scott, Amy Smart, Tom Green, and Breckin Meyer was filmed partially in Lawrenceville.
