When Logan police officers responded to a report this summer of an unresponsive woman in a hotel room, the incident had the appearance of a suicide attempt. But there was more to the case than that, according to the Logan Police Department.

Sentencing delayed for Utah woman who killed toddler son

District Court Judge Thomas Willmore postponed Monday's scheduled sentencing in Logan so 45-year-old Marie Rutchey of River Heights can undergo another psychiatric evaluation at a state mental hospital. Rutchey pleaded guilty but mentally ill in July in the death of her 2-year-old, Eli.

Police have identified a man who died in an explosive crash with a semitrailer that set the truck's driver aflame Wednesday. Marcos Torres, 26, of Brigham City, fled a traffic stop in a black Chevrolet Silverado about 2 p.m., Logan police said in a Thursday statement.

One person dead after high-speed chase crash near Sardine Canyon

One person was dead after a high-speed chase ended with a pickup truck crashing into a semitrailer near the mouth of Sardine Canyon in Cache County on Wednesday. Utah Highway Patrol had started chasing the pickup driver at 1:30 p.m., and the truck crashed one minute later, at 6200 South on U.S. Route 89 in Wellsville, according to Logan police Chief Gary Jensen, whose department was investigating the crash.
