Marin drivers are still dealing with the sticker shock of a new 12-cent-per-gallon gas tax that took effect Nov. 1, but some of that revenue is already flowing back to the county for transportation needs. Memorial to animals lost in the October fires planned in Napa

Several local animal welfare groups hope to recognize the grief of those who lost pets and other animals during October's deadly North Bay Wildfires with a Memorial Ceremony from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Silverado Resort. The event is organized by Napa Valley-based Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch and San Rafael-based In Defense of Animals, organizers said.

Toys for Tots looking for donations

This weekend, December 9 and 10, Toys for Tots will be doing their Fill a Firetruck program from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Kmart and Walmart parking lots.
