In 2007, the city of Oak Lawn, Illinois began hanging additions to stop signs. This was the idea of the city President in an effort to encourage drivers to obey the stop signs. Many of the signs were poorly made and had several misspellings. Some of the signs read "WHOA WHOA WAIT A MINUTE." In 2008 the Federal Highway Administration forced Oak Lawn to remove the signs.
