The Latest: Power outages mount across the Northeast

Power outage totals from a Northeastern storm have climbed to more than 250,000 just in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Amtrak has suspended service between Boston and New York City through Tuesday night but will restore the line to travelers on Wednesday.

Latest nor'easter reaches blizzard conditions

The service's Taunton, Massachusetts, office said on Twitter late Tuesday morning that automated observing sites in Hyannis, Falmouth, and Plymouth recorded three consecutive hours of blizzard conditions despite some missing observations due to a power loss. The weather service defines a blizzard as three or more hours of sustained wind or frequent gusts to 35 mph or greater; and falling or blowing snow that reduces visibility frequently to less than one-quarter of a mile.

Troutman police and the Massachusetts State Police worked together to arrest and charge a Troutman man in the 1986 murder of a 15-year-old Massachusetts girl. According to the Plymouth County district attorney, 15-year-old Tracy Gilpin disappeared from her home and was reported missing by family members back in October 1986.

Still recovering from the last storm, restaurants brace for another nor'easter

For some restaurants in the region, Wednesday's nor'easter threatens to spoil dayslong efforts to reopen after last week's storm brought flood damage and power outages that led to food spoilage and lost revenue. Plymouth DA alerts police chiefs that man released is considered dangerous

The Plymouth district attorney has alerted police chiefs in the county that a man free on bail and awaiting an illegal firearms trial may have violated terms of his release. Last fall, a Plymouth County grand jury indicted Christopher Barlow, 21, of Duxbury, for allegedly possessing illegal firearms, an incendiary device, and for trying to pass himself off as a Homeland security officer while trying to convince police to return his gun, officials said.

$10M sewer pipe project placed on Wareham warrant
