Man Surrenders On Allegations He Had Lewd Contact With Child

A man surrendered in court Friday after a warrant was issued for his arrest for alleged lewd conduct and sending lewd and inappropriate messages to a minor, San Mateo County prosecutors said. Redwood City resident Ian Whiteman, 39, posted bail Friday and appeared in court at 9 a.m. in Redwood City on charges that he sent the messages and had the contact with a student at The Nueva School, which has campuses in Hillsborough and San Mateo.

A former employee at the Nueva School's San Mateo campus accused of becoming involved in a relationship with a 14-year-old female student appeared in court for the first time Friday to face charges of lewd acts upon a child age 14, contact with a minor for the purpose of committing a sexual offense and misdemeanor child annoyance and molestation, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. Redwood City resident Ian Whiteman, 39, pleaded not guilty to his charges and posted $150,000 bail when he surrendered himself in court Friday after the District Attorney's Office obtained a warrant for his arrest, according to prosecutors.

Trial back on for man who stabbed girlfriend

The jury trial for a man alleged to have fatally stabbed his girlfriend in her San Mateo home in 2015 is slated to begin Feb. 13 after a judge on Friday denied his request for a new defense attorney, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. It was the third time Anthony Kirincic, 24, requested a new attorney since he was taken into custody for the November 2015 stabbing and murder of his girlfriend, Colleen Straw, prosecutors said previously.
