Savannah-Chatham police are investigating a fatal crash near East Broad and Hall streets that killed an 89-year-old woman last week. Albertha Bowens was traveling north in the southbound lanes of E. Broad Street at Hall Street in a motorized wheelchair about 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 12, when she was struck by a southbound Ford F-150, driven by Karl Whatley, 51, of Savannah, said spokeswoman Bianca Johnson.
