Reports: Barrington woman said torching SUV was a 'freak accident'

Julie Gagne, 47, is accused of using a flamethrower to torch her SUV in November and then falsely reporting it stolen to Schaumburg police. Barrington resident Julie Gagne said she was assembling a flamethrower in this office center parking lot off South Grove Avenue on a November evening before accidentally setting her luxury SUV on fire and later reporting it stolen in Schaumburg, according to police documents.

Parents file suit to allow daughter to use medical marijuana at suburban grade school

Parents of a grade school student who has leukemia are suing a Schaumburg-based school district and the state of Illinois for the right for her to take medical marijuana at school. Plaintiffs identified only as J.S. and M.S, parents of A.S., filed suit Wednesday claiming that the state's ban on taking the drug at school is unconstitutional because it denies the right to due process, as well as violating the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act .
