Pot retailers caught in OLCC minor sting

All five recreational marijuana retailers in Central Oregon passed a second underage decoy operation by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission in December, according to an agency news release Wednesday. According to the OLCC, 81 percent of 66 licensed retailers tested between Dec. 21 and Dec. 28 succeeded in checking the ID of a volunteer decoy under age 21. Retailers in Oregon did not fare as well as those in Central Oregon, which scored 100 percent compliance.

DeFazio discusses preliminary VA investigation results

After hearing a preliminary report from investigators Thursday, Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Springfield, said he believes senior Roseburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center officials will be reassigned or removed. The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians will have 17,519 acres of land returned to them if President Donald Trump signs a bill that passed the U.S. Senate Thursday night. The Western Oregon Tribal Fairness Act, H.R. 2791, would place land currently managed by the Bureau of Land Management into a trust for the Cow Creek Tribe.

Sheriff: Springfield Christian school teacher had sexual relationship with student

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office arrested a Springfield Christian school teacher last week for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student. The woman, Andrea Nicole Baber, 29, was arrested by deputies on Friday at her home, which has a Cottage Grove postal code but is located near Curtin in Douglas County.
