The city of Stockton has agreed to pay $1.2 million to the family of a woman who was killed in 2016 after she was struck by a Stockton police vehicle. Marilyn May Bettencourt, 84, died Aug. 31, 2016, after she drove into the path of a police sport utility vehicle driven by Stockton police Officer Joseph Ciccarelli.

STOCKTON - A young man driving a late-model luxury car that belonged to his employer caused major mayhem early Saturday when he allegedly sped through residential streets in south Stockton while intoxicated, crashed into several vehicles and left the scenes before victims were able to corral him with their cars for police. Jose Camargo, 22, a sales concierge at Mercedes-Benz of Stockton, was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol about 1:40 a.m. Saturday morning on Houston Avenue at Van Buskirk Street, next to Van Buskirk Municipal Golf Course, police reported.
