Sentencing set Jan. 30 for pair in Elm St. burglary

Two people accused of breaking into a house and holding the occupants at gunpoint entered Alford pleas - not admitting guilt - Tuesday to two counts of burglary. Antonio Talley, 35, of the 4300 block of Vicksburg Drive in Sylvania, and Kayla Gordon, 27, of the 1300 block of Foster Avenue, had been indicted on more serious charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, and grand theft of a motor vehicle, but Clint Wasserman, an assistant county prosecutor, told the court that there were "significant evidentiary concerns based on inconsistent statements" after further investigation.

Chick-fil-A to open new store in west Toledo

Chick-fil-A announced Tuesday that Jonathan Winn has been named the franchise owner of the chain's Secor Road restaurant as the hiring of upwards of 75 new team members begins. Toledo's newest Chick-fil-A is under constructions at 3308 Secor Road and is projected to open in late February.

Franciscan Village to restock local pantries

The Sylvania Franciscan Village will kick off its seventh annual Have a Heart Restock Drive at the end of the month to supply personal-care items to six area pantries. Holland man gets 10 1/2 years for robbery, fleeing police

A Holland man who robbed two businesses, fled from police, and later escaped from Lucas County Sheriff's deputies was sentenced Wednesday to more than 10 years in prison. Christian Pfaff, 26, entered Alford pleas - not admitting guilt - Oct. 18 to escape, attempted failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, and two counts of robbery.
