About: tinley park, illinois

Tinley Park is less than thirty miles from the Illinois State capital Chicago. It was first settled by emigrants from New England in the 1820s, and then by German settlers in the 1840s. When the city was established, it was named "Bremen." In the late 1800s railroads boomed and Bremen found itself to be on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad line. The influence of this strategic location was so great that the town's name was changed to Tinley Park, after the first railroad station agent, Samuel Tinley.
