A 69-year-old Tulare man is in custody in connection with the molestation of a 12-year-old juvenile, the Tulare Police Department reported Monday. Sgt. Joh Hamlin reported that officers went to the 800 block of South T street Sunday regarding an adult with the child, who apparently did not know the man.

A man pretending to be a police officer was arrested Monday after he tried to make a traffic stop on an off-duty sergeant in Tulare, Visalia police said. An off-duty sergeant was driving near Mooney and Cartmill avenues at 11:45 p.m. when Brandon Freeman, 29, driving a 2008 white Buick sedan, turned on flashing red lights and signaled the sergeant to pull over for a traffic stop.

Miguel Michael Rodriguez, 33, of Tulare was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison for carjacking, kidnapping and rape, the Tulare County District Attorney's Office reported.
