Police looking for suspects in fatal shooting at Ypsilanti apartment

Following a comedic engagement on Norwegian Cruise Lines, Allen Park native Adam Peacock, known for his podcast "My Neighbors Are Dead," returned to Michigan Jan. 3 to an arctic cold front. Above all the things he was and accomplished in his 90 years, Michigan businessman and entrepreneur John W. Barfield was a family man. He loved his wife and his children and their children, said his youngest son, David Barfield, while also leading a business career marked by success as the founder of multiple companies and a community philanthropist.

Mr. Barfield, who continued to enjoy an active lifestyle after retiring from Bartech, saw family members daily and enjoyed good health, died of natural causes at the age of 90. He would have turned 91 on Feb. 8. Mr. Barfield was known as a pioneer of corporate America's minority supplier development programs, forming companies that were successful contractors to the major automakers and other industrial giants. He launched John Barfield & Associates in 1977, with a staff of six Washtenaw Community College students who updated engineering documents at GM's Willow Run facility in Ypsilanti, Mich.

The parent company of Arbor Brewing Company and Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina plans to open another brewpub and restaurant in Plymouth. Michigan-based Farm + Ferment has signed a lease agreement to take over 777 W. Ann Arbor Trail in downtown Plymouth, a building that formerly housed Box Bar, which closed in December.
